This course is designed to equip EMS personnel with essential skills specific to the care of pediatric patients. Participants will learn and practice five critical pediatric skills: safe transportation, spinal immobilization, weight estimation and medication dosing, epinephrine and dextrose dosing, and intraosseous (IO) line placement. Through demonstrations and hands-on practice, this class will prepare attendees to confidently and effectively manage pediatric emergencies. By the end of this course, participants will be able to effectively apply immobilization and safe transportation techniques for children of all sizes, ensuring their safety during emergency transport. They will also learn to accurately estimate a child's weight and calculate the correct doses for critical medications, such as epinephrine and dextrose. Additionally, attendees will understand the indications for intraosseous (IO) line placement and develop the expertise needed to perform this procedure in pediatric patients.
